We know what happens (in general) to mammals in zero gee, and we know a lot about mammals in 1 gee. We have really no idea what fractional gee does. Would, for example, 1/6 gee provide enough directionality for embryos?

Or for that matter, would 1/6 gee provide enough gravity to avoid the bone loss seen in microgravity? We don't know.

Daveon comments on Poor Use of Technology

Well, I can't disagree with a paper backup. An SF group I was a member of for years almost completely imploded over, of all things, a restaurant bill. The first mistake was assuming that because I had an engineering degree I could do mental arithimitic. The second was assuming I could do so after I'd drunk that many beers.

The FIJAGDH v. FIAWOL is one of the reasons I don't get involved in too much before the fact. I'm just too damned busy, even before I was starting my own company, I worked too hard to have a hobby that's as all consuming as Fandom can be. Once I'm at a Con and relaxed, I'll do stuff, but there is no way on Earth I'd commit to anything prior to arriving at a convention site because the awful truth is I'd let people down and I'd hate myself for that.

This is a pretty common deficiency in people, not just fans, but life would be simpler if people could recognise it in others and themselves and adjust accordingly.

And, with a few exceptions, let things lie. Especially after a couple of decades :)

Life is too short.
